Mountain Flight (The Himalayan From the Skies)

A part of the tour program here in Nepal, the mountain flight is gaining the high demand during the on season of the tourist arrival and to fulfill the demand, various private-domestic airlines operate mountain flight.

Program Outline:
The program starts right from the TIA (Tribhuvan International Airport at Kathmandu) and the flight will last for 1 hour but each and every moments after you leave the ground will be unforgettable because you'll fly across the Himalayan range and no wonder the "top of the world", The Everest-8848 m.

Some Description of few Mountains that can be seen from the Mt. Flight: -

1. Langtang (7234m):
The first mountain, which can be seen, is Langtang. The valley of Langtang, which is not visible from the mountain flight, is considered to be the most beautiful in the whole Himalayan region.

2. Gosainthan (8013m):
The mountain lies on the Nepal - Tibetan border. Tibetan name for this mountain is Shisapangma. She is related with many Hindu Mythologies especially of Shiva.

3. DorjeLakpa (6975m):
This mountain has a Tibetan name, which means "the mountains of many sacred Thunderbolts". This mountain is considered to be holy mountain for Buddhists and climbing permission was given only in 1964, and it was not climbed until 1981.

4. Gauri-Sanker (7134m):
This single mountain has two peaks and also has two names together because the Hindus believe that the mountain looks like the pair of Gods Shiva and Gouri. This holy mountain was restricted till 1977 for the climbers. It was only in 1979 that an American - Nepal group reached the summit.

5. Lhotse (8516m):
As this mountain lies to the south of Everest, name given by the Sherpas is Lhotse, which means" South Peak". The first ascent of this mountain took place in 1956 by the Swiss.

6. Mount Everest (8848m):
This Mountain was discovered in 1852 and is the highest mountain of the world, is named after Sir George Everest, and English surveyor. Sagarmatha, top of the universe, is the name giver by Nepal which means, "mother of the world" and Qomolongma in Tibetan. Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgey Sherpa were first to climb Everest on May 25, 1953. As a coronation gift to Queen Elizabeth.

Bungy Jumping

This bungy jump in Nepal may be the most spectacular jump on the Planet. This remarkable 500ft (160m) drop into the Bhote Koshi River gorge on the Nepal/Tibet Border is the longest free fall in the world. Nepal's first bungy jumping site is situated 160m over the wild Bhote Kosi river, and located close to the Nepal-Tibet border, a three-hour bus ride from Kathmandu. As can be arranged on arrival in Kathmandu . As of now, there is only one agency offering this sport. The jump, at 160m, was designed by one of New Zealand 's leading bungy consultants, and is operated by some of the most experienced jump masters in the business. It's mishap-proof. The agency takes safety "very, very seriously".

Location:
Less than 4 hours outside Kathmandu by Ultimate Bungy Shuttle. You will travel the Arniko (Kathmandu/Lhasa) Highway to within 12km of the Tibet Border and the famous Friendship Bridge .

The Gorge:
Ultimate Bungy Nepal takes place on a 166m wide steel suspension bridge over the Bhoti Kosi River .

The Bridge:
Swiss designed, specially for bungee jumping with a 4x safety factor. The bridge has a loading factor of 250kg per running meter. This means that the bridge will hold 250 x 166 = 41,500kg or 4.5 tonnes. And... those are Swiss measurements! * Over 6000 meters of steel wire was used to build the bridge Longest suspension bridge in Nepal * The bridge joins two sides of a great valley. Before its construction, locals walked five hours to cross this river gorge.

The Jump:

Anyone who wants to take a taste of bungee jumping should not have any of the health problems mentioned below: Heart disease, Epilepsy, High blood pressure, Pregnancy, Addiction to alcohol or drugs, Orthopedic problems, Psychological problems, Neurological problems.

Paragliding

Paragliding in Nepal can be a truly wonderful and fulfilling experience for the adventure seeker. A trip will take you over some of the best scenery on earth, as you share airspace with Himalayan griffin vultures, eagles, kites and float over villages, monasteries, temples, lakes and jungle, with a fantastic view of the majestic Himalaya .

Gliding is a weather dependent sports and the flying season in Nepal commences from November through February, the best months being November and December. The takes off point for these flights is Sarankot (1592m.), which also offers prime views of Fewa lake and mountains at sunrise and sunset (provided the skies are clear) and the landing is by the Fewa lake. No previous experience is required as qualified pilots provide a short briefing before launching .

You'll get memories to last a lifetime in 30 to 45 minute flight. For those who want to find out what paragliding is all about but cannot commit to 2 days of instruction, we offer tandem flights. During the flight pilot will explain what he/she is doing and allow you some hands-on control of the glider.

Paragliding Programs:
In the morning, after breakfast drive to Sarankot (1592m) Paragliding spot.

• After arrival on the spot, briefing about flying by expert& professional pilot and fly.
• About an hour of exiting flight, during the flight you have breathe taking panorama views of Annapurna Range, beautiful Mt. Fish Tail, Annapurna South, Himchuli, Annapurna II, III, IV, Lamjung Himal, Mt. Manashlu and great Mt. Dhaulagiri togethere with landscape panorama and Fewa Lake.
• After landing transfer to hotel and rest or join the further program according to your itinerary.
• This exiting short flight trip can be done after or before the trekking when you have rest day in Pokhara. For detail please make an inquiry to us.

We do not recommend bringing very small children. The reason are twofold-the first being the comfort and enjoyment of the other passengers. The baskets are quite small and young children often get restless when in confined areas. The second reason is more practical. The walls of the baskets are four feet high, small children would have difficulty in seeing over, unless carried by an adult ( an arduous task for a one hour fight). We do stipulate that children under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult.

WHEN: We take off soon after sunrise. Winds are usually at their calmest then. Winter months provide the most reliable conditions. We fly in the summer, but very early in the morning.
DURATION: Normally we fly for about an hour, but this is at the pilot's discretion, taking into account the winds, temperature and weight carried on the day.

WHAT TO WEAR: Dress as for hiking, including sturdy shoes or boots plus sun glasses, gloves and a cap. It does not get any colder in the balloon than on the ground.

PHOTOGRAPHY: Our advice is to bring more film than you think you'll need. There is so much to see, from an entirely new perspective - you'll want to record it all to relive later.

PAYMENTS/REFUNDS: Payments must be made at least 3 days prior to flight. As ballooning is dependant on favourable weather conditions and safety is our first consideration and we will not fly it conditions are unsuitable. If you are "weathered out" you may rebook for this season or the next, or receive a refund.
